Also, all queer-bashing, heteronormative Heathens should stfu cuz so many genderbendings are in the Eddas, and there were probably more stories that got erased involving gendery things (no denial that Norse/Germanic society was purdy homo-hatey though…doesn’t mean you get to be!)

Actually…pre-Christian Norse/Germanic society was likely pretty “IDGAF” about sexuality of any kind, considering the concept of a sexual orientation didn’t exist in those cultures and is a relatively modern idea. This is not to say that LGBTQ people didn’t exist then (they most certainly did), simply that there is no evidence that those people were conceptualized or conceptualized themselves in the same manner as today. Any “evidence” of homosexuality or just  not-heterosexual behavior being a bad thing comes from Christianization era sources, and the association of “argr” or “ergi” with homosexuality didn’t show up until then, either.

Like you guys said, the lore is frakking full of genderbending and crossdressing, but as far as what the pre-Christian Norse/Germanic really thought about homosexuality we have zero information. Unlike ancient Christian documents, which is full of those ideas. To me that reflects that whatever non-heterosexual activity went on in their society, it wasn’t much of an issue as no one bothered to record anything about it.
